On the Lot cuts back to one show a week from two

Thursday, May 31st, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

On the Lot, despite attracting all-star celebrity judges, has continues to suck even more in the ratings. So FOX has decided to cut back the show from its current twice-weekly airings, a staple for most reality shows where someone gets voted off, to only one show a week.

Now, both the competition and the results show will now be combined into one show a week, airing on Tuesdays at 8pm. This starts with next week’s show on June 5th.

The two night finale is still going to run over two nights, instead of being condensed to one show. The finale will air Monday August 13th and Tuesday August 14th at 8pm both nights.

They also plan to keep a special show airing on Monday, June 9th at 8pm because of the Major League Baseball game airing the night before.

This show has suffered from a surprisingly lack of hype, and nearly zero press… while I can remember a ton of So You Think You Can Dance ads, I don’t think I can recall a single On the Lot ad.

On the Lot season finale details

On the Lot will air its season finale on FOX over two nights, one being the final competition night and the following night as the results show.

The one hour competition night will air on Monday, August 13th at 8pm. And the next night will see the results show airing, also at 8pm.

Of course, all of this is subject to change… if On the Lot turns into a runaway hit, you can only assume that FOX will pull an American Idol and expand either the cometition or the results show to a two hour extravaganza!

Carrie Fisher and Garry Marshall as permanent On the Lot judges

Sunday, May 27th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

apparently both Carrie Fisher and Garry Marshall enjoyed their time as judges for the audition round of On the Lot, as they have both signed on to be permanent judges.

As the cameras continue rolling on the new moviemaking competition series ON THE LOT, executive-produced by Mark Burnett and Steven Spielberg, actress, author and screenwriter Carrie Fisher (”Star Wars,” “Postcards From The Edge”) and director/producer Garry Marshall (”Georgia Rule,” “Pretty Woman”) are confirmed as the series’ two permanent judges after appearing as guest judges in the audition rounds. Director D.J. Caruso (”Disturbia”) will join Fisher and Marshall as a guest judge on the competition’s first “Film Premiere” and “Box Office” results shows. Entertainment news anchor Adrianna Costa serves as the show host.

The special two-hour first “Film Premiere” episode, featuring comedic short films individually produced and directed by the 18 finalists, who are competing for a $1-million DreamWorks development deal, airs Monday, May 28 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. While the judges will give their personal critiques of the films, it will be up to the American public to determine the first finalists to be eliminated from the competition; voting results will be announced the following night on the expanded first “Box Office” results show Tuesday, May 29 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). ON THE LOT’s weekly “Film Premiere” episodes air in their regular time period beginning Monday, June 4 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), and the weekly “Box Office” results shows will air on Tuesdays (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) starting Tuesday, June 5.
